In simple mode, you only enter two properties: title and content. Additionally you select the locale the announcement is in - but only if at least two languages are enabled per portal.

In advanced options you can set a link that the announcement is connected to. A link can be an external or internal resource, a file or even a users profile. Additionally you can enter s brief summary, that can be used to render announcements on the frontpage of your portal as usually ther isn't enough real estate to render the complete announcement on the frontpage. The last optional thing is the publish date that may differ from the created date in order to allow for hiding the announcement until the publishdate or to sort the item into a past history.

If subscriptions are enabled in the module settings, visitors may subscribe to announcements. Logged on users cannot edit profile properties on this screen, but may follow the link to their profile. Anonymous visitors can - if enebaled - subscribe by adding their name and e-mail address.

The locale selector for visitors will only be displayed if multiple locales are enabled per portal

The archive module enables visitors to browse announcements in the past. Visitors may as well subscribe from the archive module while editors may as well enter new announcements from here. The archive module reads the settings of its main instance.
