Magic News: Version History
01.01.0112/14/2006
  • Bug / Fix: If a portal has only one language enabled an exception was thrown when going to the subscription page. The current release fixes this behaviour.
01.01.0012/11/2006
  • New Feature: Notify Admin - sends an e-mail notification to the portal admin when a visitor subscribes to one of the Magic News modules. Activate this setting in Manage News Module
  • New Feature: Show Registration Link - allows you to enable / disable the link to the registration page on the subscription form (only valid for enabled registration in portalsettings)
  • New template introduced: Item Detail template - Use the [ ITEMLINK ] Token to link to a single detail view of an announcement. You can use the [ ALLNEWSLINK ] token to link back to the main view from a single item
  • Bug / Fix: the scheduler is now updated correctly from the Manage News Module screen to reflect enabled / disabled subscriptions. If subscriptions are disabled in all modules, the scheduler job will be disabled too, if one enabled subscriptions, the scheduler will be restarted. You can monitor this initialization process in the log viewer of your portal.
  • Enhancement: Current Locale / user locale is pre-selected on the subscription screen

As you might have noticed this morning, we are currently testing the next feature to come: Role subscriptions. While this did not work very well this morning (the notification has been sent to all portal users and the content was buggy) it is now more working as expected. This great upcoming feature will allow you to auto-subscribe roles to your announcements. You can auto-subscribe a role and deny public subscriptions, so users will not be able to unsubscribe unless they unsubscribe from the role itself (or are being subscribed by a portal admin).

Expect this new feature before christmass!
